Layers and broilers required different amounts of protein at different levels of growth. A balanced ration should be able to be provide energy, proteins, Amino acids , vitamins and minerals.
Ingredients
1).Maize- will be used as a source of energy . It has a CP of 7-12%.
2). Bran. Also can be used to provide energy and fibre however it has high fiber
3). Proteins source. In this case we have two types of protein; animal proteins and plant proteins.
a) animal proteins. This includes fish meal, bone meal, blood meal. In the case of fish meal it has a CP of 60%. And be used as the main source of protein. Mainly it’s fixed in the ration.
b) plant proteins. This includes sunflower, soyabeans, cotton seed cake etc.
4) calcium. Limestone is used as the main source of calcium because it contains calcium carbonate. This will help in strengthening bones and egg formation.
5). Amino acids. These may include Lysine, methionine, Treonine.
6) vitamins and minerals like phosphorus and sodium
7) premixes and toxin binders like Canola.
Method of feed formulation.
In this case you use Pearson Square method.
This method will enable you to calculate correct ammo of ingredients required in terms of kg/gm.
Procedure of using Pearson Square method.
1. Draw a square
2. At the center put the cp of your ration i.e 18%
3. Draw the diagnose
4. At the left side write your ingredients I.e at the top Maize- 7% and the bottom sunflower 38%.
5. Subtract the diagnose to get the amount of Maize- parts and sunflower parts required. The figure u get, write it on the right side of the square. Then find the total parts required ( maize parts + sunflower parts).
If u were preparing 100kg do the calculation i.e (maize parts over total parts multiply by 100)+ ( sunflower parts over total X 100).
If u want to fix fish meal.
Combute the Cp of the mixture with that of fish meal.
Then add your toxin binders, vitamins, and they are in form of grams not
